Gussie Richardson is a famous food columnist and cookbook author.  Her agent, Bernie, tells her she's been offered her own daily network television show.  Her partner, Walter, is dead set against it.  Gus discovers she has stage fright and can't open her mouth in front of a camera.  Everybody tries to help her get over it:  Walter through hypnotism, Bernie by threats, and even the wacky Gypsy from next door, Carmen, through witchcraft!  Just when Gus thinks she's cured, the taping turns into a comic nightmare concluding in an all-out food fight that almost ends the show and her relationship.  Cookin' with Gus brings together four unlikely characters in a stew of hijinks and hilarity.

On a quiet Sunday night, the regulars have gathered at Burton Mock’s general store, in the small town of Shallowford, NC.  It’s October, 1938. The rest of the world is poised on the brink of war, but the locals aren’t much worried about events in the world at large. They’re more interested in the local gossip.  All is calm; until they turn on the radio and learn that the Martians have invaded! Of course, it’s the famous Orson Welles broadcast -- but they fall for it; hook, line, and shotgun, and run out to do battle against the fearsome threat. Only teenage sci-fi aficionado Lonny suspects that something is fishy, but he’s got his hands full if he thinks he’s gonna deter the local yokels from their moment of glory.  Prepare yourself for a stellar night of fun!
