Montgomery News - Jekyll & Hyde
A ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ with multiple split personalities
This adaptation, written in 2008, has one very distinct difference from your run-of-the-mill Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde production. You see, in this adaptation, five different actors play the spit personality, “Hyde.” Even more bizarrely, a woman, Linda Friday, plays one of the Hyde personalities.
For anyone looking for a good way to wrap up the Halloween season with something creepy and classic without having to sit through a seen-it-before play, the DCP Theatre adaptation of “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde” may just be the perfect play for you.
"Multiple Hydes wreak havoc on Jekyll and London … and create mesmerizing drama"...Montgomery News
"This take on a classic may be the most original play running this fall. DCP’s production of “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde” is a haunting show that examines the two sides we all have inside."..."The multiple-Hydes approach makes for some wonderful moments that could not have been possible if only one actor claimed the role. Director Patrick Gallagher allows the audience to witness Hyde terrorizing multiple people in London in one moment. The Hydes torment Jekyll, whispering in his ear and walking beside him like a shadow"

Stage Magazine - Blithe Spirit
BLITHE SPIRIT, A Noel Coward Comic Farce, Plays at DCP Theatre
One of Noel Coward’s most endearing works is BLITHE SPIRIT. The comedy is at times subtle, and at times laugh-out-loud funny. It requires the utmost chemistry among its participants, with pauses coming at a miniscule rate. The DCP Theatre’s production succeeded....The play really began to get rolling when Reider took the stage in her ethereal green dress. She has comic timing at its best. The best scenes of the night were between Charles and Elvira or Charles and both of his wives together.

Stage Magazine - Born Yesterday
Knowledge is a good thing. A little knowledge, however, can be dangerous. Knowledge is also power. Power can be used for good or evil. And so goes the many possible themes to DCP’s BORN YESTERDAY, written by Garson Kanin. It is ironic that newcomer, but talented, Director Nicolette Addice, in her own words, in her Director’s Notes in the program, tried to go beyond those basic themes; to dig deeper into possible other aspects of this play.
Rebecca Shimer as Billie and Rob Patey as Harry. Shimer grew into the part of Billie and by the end of the play, you routed for her to break away from Brock and win her life back. She was a crowd favorite come curtain call. Patey, who had to show anger and frustration most of the show, did. He was a dominant force onstage...Barry Crush’s semi-hero Verrall was mild mannered and low key, or so he seemed next to Patey. Matt Mazza as Brock’s kissass attorney, Ed Devery, who was the brains behind the Brock brawn, played the role as a sloppy drunk. That could be considered poetic justice for a sellout attorney. Other actors involved with the production were Seth Baliles, Howard Algeo, Terry Tompkins, Diana Cummiskey, Lydia Crush and Amy Peart.

Stage Magazine - My Fair Lady
DCP Theatre presents Lerner and Loewe’s MY FAIR LADY
DCP’s production features really nice performances by the 10 cast principals and spirited scenes featuring the 23 supporting cast members. Particularly noteworthy is the energetic portrayal of Henry Higgins turned in by veteran DCP actor Mark Henry.
The title role is performed exceedingly well by Rebecca Shimer who sang Eliza’s songs beautifully and was always engaging in her transformation from an unrefined Cockney flower girl into a lady capable of passing herself off as a member of London’s upper social class. |

Stage Magazine - Accomplice
"April 1st was a perfect date for DCP to open ACCOMPLICE by Rupert Holmes, because each time you think you know what is unfolding in this witty play you find yourself fooled again. Indeed, the audience is swept along on a theatrical thrill ride that rivals the twists and turns of Wildwood’s Great White roller coaster. Just as one has to experience the Great White for oneself, so, too, will a simple description of this play fall far short of what audience members will encounter along the way in this exquisitely deceptive story line. It is for this reason that I find writing this review both difficult and easy at the same time."

DCP Theatre in its 60th season

DCP just launched its 60th season with yet another iconic production, Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple.”
“Oddly” enough it stars two people who are no strangers to the Times Herald family of reporters… Al Benelli and Phil Cook… and is directed by long time DCP Theatre member and community fixture, Deb Takes. When not directing, Deb can be found at the president’s desk of First Priority Bank.
During 2010 patrons were asked to vote for their favorite musical and non-musical shows with the promise that the troupe would put the winning shows on the 2011 season calendar.
The opening show, “The Odd Couple,” was one of the two “patron picks” and runs through Feb. 27.

It’s one of Cathy Zeller’s favorite movies.
“It’s like a tradition in our family. As soon as Thanksgiving’s over, we pop in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’ It puts us in the Christmas spirit,” Zeller said.
The Frank Capra/Jimmy Stewart version of the holiday classic isn’t the only thing ringing the bells for Zeller this year, though....

"Scott McMaster and Seth Baliles as Cornelius Hackl and Barnaby Tucker were appropriately all innocent and amiable. They both sang sweetly and in the quartet “Elegance” shared with Katherine Henry and Maria Boccella as Minnie Fay and Irene Malloy they were a highlight of the performance."

It was May, 1987. I was 18. Quakertown Senior High School. My voice has changed A LOT since then and I STILL can't dance for squat! But I jumped at the chance to play the role now that I'm the actual age of the character (eh-hem... 40-something)!
